Describe the work you submitted for merits.

I create comic work that's mainly focused on character driven speculative fiction, usually with a queer spin to them.

What's next for your practice? Anything you're really excited to make?

I'm really excited to make longer work! I want to flesh out the stories I already have and hopefully think of more that follow the punk and queer themes I'm into. I'd like to do more character work as well, which can sometimes be hard to convey on a smaller scale.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

I've always wanted to study art as a kid but never really had a plan on how to do it. I visited here for National Portfolio Day in high school and I just loved the atmosphere. It's not too far from home, and MCAD's robust comics program was a big draw to me.

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

I can barely remember what college was like pre-covid, but right now I just love seeing people's pets during class.

What's the best thing you've got from MCAD's free shelf?

I have this cube ottoman with wheels I found on the free shelf freshman year. I don't know if it was someone's furniture they made for class or if it was from the store, but I love the little thing.

Anything you're obsessed with at the moment?

I'm a long-time lover of Minecraft and I play it way too much. When I'm not playing Minecraft, I'm probably thinking about Minecraft. I've also been playing a lot of Stardew Valley and Genshin Impact lately.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by games like Life is Strange or Afterparty, and I love Heavy Liquid by Paul Pope. I also really love the work of Chynna Clugston Flores and Jen Hickman.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

Last semester I worked on this fantasy cyberpunk story for Comic Scene. It's funky and weird and fun to draw. I hope to make more of it in the future!
