Acrylic Painting Studio for ages 12-15 (in person)

Dive into painting concepts, techniques, and materials to uncover what makes using acrylic paints so unique.

This studio art class includes artist demonstrations, instruction, critique/reflection, and plenty of hands-on painting activities. Learn how to apply different technical strategies throughout the painting process. Develop skills in applying washes, dry brushing, and brush handling. Study color theory and experiment with color mixing, blending, layering, and glazing with acrylics. Activities include still life painting inspired by Italian painter Giorgio Morandi, and self-portrait painting inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and American painter Amy Sherald. Come try your hand, and learn something new! / Materials fee of $23 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 12–15. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Youth Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration.

Required materials

Supplies
Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. The material fee for this class will cover the required supplies.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.

Class savings

Register on or before August 19 and save $25.
