The Art of Bookmaking: The Folded Book (in person)

Book structures are rich material for experimentation and creative exploration. Artist's books are exceptionally varied and creative by nature.

Learn basic and more complex book structures with a goal to make one’s own artist book. Learn a variety of different book structures, pocketed accordion fold, maze book, blizzard book and more. Many artist books are folded books, which may be read page by page or seen all at once, as a kind of sculpture. Variations in the folding pattern can yield hidden corners, diversions, and interesting complications.

Gain a deeper knowledge of different book structures by investigating strengths and weaknesses and exploring content. Students discuss individual plans for books with one another and the instructor. Additional structures and binding techniques are taught based on students' needs and interests. Create multiples of a favorite book structure to share in a class book exchange. / Materials fee of $29 included in tuition.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
