Art Educator Workshop: Contemporary Painting Methods (in person)

Discover how applicable the traditional methods of painting are in the contemporary art world and redefine what painting is today by pushing the limits of the artist and their tools. This workshop explores various traditional and non-traditional media. In addition to painting focused assignments, educators are exposed to various painting styles and histories through instructor demos and discussions. The workshop introduces terms commonly used to discuss art and explores the value of group critique. The week-long workshop inspires further development of one’s own painting practice. At the end of the course, educators will be able to apply what they have learned to their curriculum. Class time is split between presentations, dialogue and studio time. / This class has a one-hour lunch break each day. / Graduate credit is available. / We strongly encourage you to contact us and confirm your workshop has met minimum enrollment to run before making any travel arrangements.

Material fee of $5 included in course tuition. Open to students ages 18 and above. View complete policies before completing your registration.

Art educators need to take their work with them on the last day of the workshop. Participants should consider bringing extra money if mailing work home will be necessary. Any work remaining after the workshop will be disposed of.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing or painting experience.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class
Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook; supply list.
Supplies will cost approximately $75 in addition to course tuition.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity; an apron if preferred.

Art Educator Workshops are not eligible for the early or multiple class registration discounts.
