Collage Exploration: Techniques in Mixed-Media for ages 15-18 (in person)

Explore the creative potential of mixed-media collage to tell personal stories though images, text, and textures.

Course description

Learn how to layer paints, papers, and found objects to construct visually compelling narratives, fostering artistic skills and self-expression. Projects may include altering text (transforming old books), self portraiture (symbolizing interest and experiences) and storytelling (mix of text, images and textures) while learning the concepts and techniques of collage. Through the study of influential artists Robert Rauschenberg, Hannah Höch, Romare Bearden, and Kara Walker, and hands-on projects, discover the endless possibilities found in mixed-media collage. / Materials fee of $12 included in tuition.

This class meets in person on MCAD’s campus.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class

Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. The material fee for this class will cover the required supplies.

What to wear

Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
