Explore imaginary worlds from a city on mars to a magical underwater kingdom. Create a fantasy world, complete with drawn and painted creatures, flora, and fauna. Open to ages 6-9.
Course description
Bring an envisioned, imaginary world to life using landscape drawing techniques, abstract colors and surrealism. Different aspects of world building are covered through close-up texture drawings, landscape designs, and creating maps. Learn from a mini field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and from artists like Joan Miro, Katsushika Hokusai, Yayoi Kusama, and Ted Harrison. Explore themes such as forest and marine environments. Families and friends are invited to view these mystical worlds at the end of the week.
Open to students ages 6–9. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Summer Youth Camps Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration.
