Figure Painting II (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Figure Painting II (in person)

A continuation of Figure Painting 1, expanding students' knowledge of painting the human figure.

Begin by identifying the gesture in short poses, then progress onto exploring anatomy and the underlying structures of the figure. Learn to approach planar modeling and how to seek out color relationships via color temperature zones. In doing so, transition from capturing simple gestures towards creating a compelling likeness of the model.

Working from direct observation of live models in a relaxed and supportive environment, develop the elemental skills of figure painting with the goals of both accuracy and individual expression. / Professional nude models may be used in this class. / Materials fee of $104 included in tuition.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
