Intaglio I (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Intaglio I (in person)

Intaglio is a form of printmaking that uses engraving or incising a design onto a plate. This class starts with simple line etching and printing. From there, explore ways to add tone, texture, and color.

There is a wealth of intriguing intaglio techniques for experimentation: aquatint provides tones that vary from light to deep, soft to granular, chine colle (collage) allows for color and the etched line to merge in delightful ways and viscosity (mulit-color) printing for an outstanding color effect. Take home a portfolio of hand pulled prints and the skills to express oneself fluently in this beautiful and exciting medium. Class activities include demos, discussion, and supervised work time. This class is geared for beginning printmakers, with added interest and information for experienced printmakers. The lessons and demos build on one another and students are strongly encouraged to attend all of the class sessions to get the most from the experience. / Materials fee of $87 and facilities fee of $182 included in course tuition.
