Plein Air Watercolor Landscape Painting (offsite) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Plein Air Watercolor Landscape Painting (offsite)

Learn the essentials of landscape painting while enjoying all that summer has to offer. Painting outdoors is a great way for artists to get out of the studio and reconnect with the natural environment.

Course description

Begin by considering how to best approach the landscape as a subject in order to identify a compelling composition. Next, learn how to mix a color palette suitable for expressing the fugitive elements of the landscape, such as light and movement. Through demonstrations and guided lessons from the instructor, learn some of the best techniques for capturing the subject and progress with confidence onto finding an individual style, subject, and approach. / Class may be rescheduled in case of rain (active rain, not the threat of rain or damp ground). / Facility fee of $10 included in tuition.

Please note that this course meets outside and may require climbing stairs, a hill or navigating uneven ground. If you need accommodations (i.e. are unable to navigate stairs or a hill) please contact our office.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
