Pre-College Studio Intensive: Painting (in person)

In this weeklong intensive, high school students focus on the studio practice of painting.

This class covers hands-on color theory exercises, observational studies, Master copies, and experimental research. Students learn about the history of the medium itself, in addition to the art history of this time-honored tradition by studying a diverse range of global artists; including from traditionally underrepresented populations and time periods. Students work to create portfolio-worthy work. / This class will have an unsupervised 30 minute lunch break. / Professional nude models will be used in this class. / Materials and model fees of $128 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 15-18. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing and painting experience is helpful, but not required.

  • pen or pencil
  • notebook or sketchbook
  • packed lunch each day, no nuts 

The materials fee for this class will cover the required supplies.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
