Aaron Olsen-Reiners explores the relationship between painting and the self. His search for the authentic self has led him to explore the tension between the abstract and the figurative, developing the thematic content of the work in response to the painting process. Aaron uses painting as an expression of the struggle for personal meaning and authenticity. While this reflective, investigative inquiry frequently reveals more questions than answers, it also offers a chance for greater self-awareness. Aaron strives for his practice to illuminate his ever-changing sense of self. Be sure to join us on Friday, May 12th from 6-9pm at the MFA Graduate Studios to enjoy Heather's thesis work, along with the other 2017 graduates!
