Inspired by the 80th anniversary of the original Degenerate Art Exhibition in Munich, Germany, Red Garage Studio in South Minneapolis hosted an exhibition called The DegeneraTe Show. The July exhibition at Red Garage Studio featured work by over 40 artists that make work informed and activated by the present U.S. political climate. Contributing artists, including four MFA alum — Chelsea Reeck '17, Erin Sandsmark '17, Christopher Selleck '16, and Jacob Yeates '17 — were invited to celebrate the opportunity to share their voices in response to concern about the environment, racism, immigration, Native rights, gender equality, Islamophobia, police brutality, militarism, domestic violence, and more. "This salon style show included painting, sculpture, mixed media, prints, video, and photography in a wide variety of styles. Some of the work in this show was overtly political, some satirical, some more subtly referential. In all cases this was a group of artists who care about this land, its people, and the world at large." Photos by Shun Jie Yong.
