Julie Renée Benda '16 is currently displaying work at a group show at the American Swedish Institute (ASI) of Minneapolis. The show titled Safeguard: Plants, Process and Regeneration ponders over a deepened relationship between us and the environment and what that can do for us. It attempts to explore the connection between people, place and plants. The all-local participating artists include Julie Benda, Jess Hirsch and Lisa Philander. Julie Benda's piece in the show is titled Inheritance. She is an interdisciplinary artist with a practice in print, book and sculpture. The American Swedish Institute website describes her practice as: "At home in the tradition of storytelling, she applies narrative throughout various media and form in order to reflect on shifting boundaries of land, water, people and plants." You can catch Julie Benda on October 5 at her live demonstration adjacent to her piece in the show at ASI. The exhibition will run until October 27.
