On May 18, two MFA alumni, graphic designers Kayla Campbell '16 and Katie Lupton '16, participated in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts' Third Thursday:Hello Summer! Their project, a Curly Jefferson Production, was a collaborative and participatory photobooth experience "Lady Jacques' Portraiture Studio." "Curly Jefferson is the anonymous fictional dual character that is the collaboration of MCAD MFA graduates, Kayla Campbell and Katie Lupton. Under the guise of Curly Jefferson, the designers are able to take on different personas and experiment with creating work in a looser manner than in their individual practices." The public were invited to choose from a variety of oversized props that allowed them to "eat a popsicle, spin a pinwheel, swat a skeeter, or pick a flower" in a lemon-colored scene. Participants got to pose with Curly Jefferson while grinning and thinking about the best of warm Minnesota summers. Anyone who stepped up to Lady Jacques' Portraiture Studio received a print to take home!
