This March, 2nd-year Clarissa Odin exhibited work in An Art Gallery of Women's Untold Stories hosted by Persistent Theatre Productions in partnership with Fallout Urban Arts Center. The exhibit showcased "beautiful works of art from local female artists that give us a glimpse into the untold stories of their lives." From the theatre, "Persistent Theatre Productions are women in theatre changing how we all relate in our world, one untold story at a time." Clarissa Odin "is a representational oil painter with a deep impulse to create social narrative art, especially feminist portraiture. Odin’s work focuses on the visual representation of women and the struggles that women face due to gender stereotypes and expectations. The frequently degrading and submissive ways in which women have been depicted in historical and contemporary contexts drive her work and need to generate conversations surrounding the visual representation of women. Through her paintings, Odin aims to visually bring feminine issues to the surface of her canvas and reveal the layered and vast complexity of them." Photography by Yi Wan.
