Erin Sandsmark / A Second Skin

This April, second year MFA candidate Erin Sandsmark held a solo show in MCAD's Gallery 148. "A Second Skin is a collection of works that center around the artist's own body. These paintings take specific moments of interaction with the naked body, and ask the viewer to interact with the flesh presented to them in each work. Sandsmark is focused on personal power, and how to use one's body and intellect to garner that power. Fat bodies, in these paintings, are brought into a public space, confronting a body that has been so open for judgement and disgust. The canvas of each painting hangs loosly with bends and folds, swaying and behaving like a skin all on its own."

Erin's work will be on display in Gallery 148 until April 19th. Don't miss her show!
