As we start a new semester, we are pleased to introduce our fall 2020 MFA faculty. Criticism & Theory I William G. Franklin MLS, minor in Art Hist - University of Minnesota BA, Mass Communication and Rhetoric - University of Minnesota William G. Franklin is a bilingual educator and an independent art curator. Franklin has juried student exhibitions, served as panelist reviewing applications for grants, and advised in museum art committees. This year he served as panelist for the Anderson Center Residency Program in Red Wing, Minnesota. Franklin also teaches history of modern and contemporary art for MCAD's undergraduate program and at Saint Cloud State University. Graduate Critique Seminar 3 Avigail Manneberg MFA, University of Minnesota BDes, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Avigail Manneberg is a Minneapolis-based artist. She works in varied media, such as painting, drawing, video, and performance. Her most recent body of work is in direct response to the chaos experienced by those fleeing conflict. “At a time of continual flux, my art grapples with national and cultural identity through the case study of my own history in relation to my home country of Israel.” Graduate Critique Seminar 1 Thesis Preparation I Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez MFA, University of Pennsylvania BFA, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago Gonzalo Reyes Rodriguez (b. 1987) is a visual artist, whose work frequently draws on archival media material and manifests itself primarily as photography, film, theatre or multi-screen installations. His work has been featured in Hyperallergic, Contemporary Art Daily, Public Parking and the Daily Lazy. Graduate Critique Seminar 1 Mara Duvra MFA, University of Minnesota BA, University of Maryland, College Park Mara Duvra is a visual artist and writer based in Minneapolis. Her research-based practice combines photography and poetry to create installations that explore stillness and interiority as critical modes of study. Duvra received a BA in Studio Art and Psychology and an MFA in Studio Art. Criticism and Theory I Emmett Ramstad MFA, Minneapolis College of Art and Design BA, Oberlin College Emmett Ramstad’s sculpture and participatory works investigate the infrastructure of daily life by modifying the scale and function of familiar household objects. Ramstad lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he works as a lecturer and teaching artist at UMN, MCAD and COMPAS. Categories Faculty
