Heather Peebles is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in painting and social practice. Her work revolves around sexual violence and rape culture in the United States. During her time at MCAD, Peebles' practice has transitioned from gallery-oriented, mixed-media paintings to community-based work in which she directly works with a community of victim-survivors of sexual violence. Peebles' thesis work will be the culmination and documentation of several art workshops through May 2017, including feedback from participants, assessments of each session, and any artwork produced as permitted by the participants. Peebles works with and in partnership with activist movements, Break the Silence and Don’t You Feel It Too? Be sure to join us on Friday, May 12th from 6-9pm at the MFA Graduate Studios to enjoy Heather's thesis work, along with the other 2017 graduates!
