On October 3, multimedia artist and MFA mentor Piotr Szyhalski performed his socially driven THEM project at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was in collaboration with the faculty and students of Tyler School of Art and Architecture where Piotr conducted a three days workshop which subsequently lead to the performance. Here, they paraded a three-foot high, 450-foot long banner around the building and through the Temple campus. According to the institution's official page, "Using his hand-built public-access letterpress printer, students constructed their own propaganda using their body weight to ink two-foot tall letters made of insulation foam, one at a time, on a banner made of white synthetic hospital-gown material, in addition to printing Szyhalski’s THEM." Piotr is also the founder of Labor Camp, an ongoing art project that explores communication, exchange, historical events and the relationship between individuals, society, history and time. While speaking with Northern Lights Minneapolis about one of his project, Piotr says, "We labour to learn and to create, to consume and to produce, a cycle that ends only in death." Currently, Piotr is a mentor in the MFA program and teaches at the undergraduate school of Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
