On April 7th, Ditch Gallery hosted the opening of a show by MFA mentor Kelly O'Brien. The show, Role Model, featured paintings and 3D works. Her practice plays with the ideas of paint and sculpture. From her website: "Expectations of what is considered sculpture or painting are exaggerated for the compositional battle, and the form is dictated by the inherent nature of the material." Kelly’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as the AQUA Art Fair during Miami Basel, PUNCH Gallery in Seattle, and sculpture parks in Latvia and Finland. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, in addition to being an MFA mentor here at at MCAD. For more information: Kelly O'Brien Categories All
