For the next few days we'll be featuring profiles of our awesome first-year grads' mid-program reviews, which have transitioned to an online format for 2020. First up, Trina Fernandez '21. ⠀ From Fernandez' statement: "In my current practice, I use found images and analog materials from pop cultures past to find the importance of connection. The use of repurposed materials and familiar imagery, like comic books and cookbooks, make the work approachable, extending my wish for everyone to access the piece, regardless of artistic background or prior knowledge. Through it, I explore my personal narrative by confronting the image of American nostalgia, trying to understand how temporary #fads of the past can apply to feelings of the present."
