Preston Drum / C3 Lab Residency

Current MFA student Preston Drum ventured back to his hometown Charlotte, North Carolina over the winter break for a month-long studio residency at C3 Lab. The residency culminated in a solo show entitled Home Comings and Goings, a large multi-media installation that incorporated painting, sculpture, sound, video and live performances. For this project, Drum teamed up with local musicians and constructed environments for them to perform inside.

Highlights include Zodiac Lovers singing lullabies in a replica of Drum’s childhood bedroom, Robert Childers in a chapel covered with childlike graffiti and a series of black boxes that viewers had to crawl inside in order to see Bo White’s one time performance of his original composition, Time To Deplane. Other performers included Del Rio, Suit City and Ghost Trees. The exhibition remains on display until February 15, 2016.
