Join us in congratulating David Ruhlman '20 on completing his Thesis Review! From Ruhlman's statement: "The work for my thesis exhibit examines the materials, artifacts and beliefs involved in the healing process. A month into my last semester at MCAD I slipped on ice after leaving an event and fractured my rib, necessitating weeks of recovery and giving me an opportunity to clarify my intention for the exhibit. I continued considering how healing works, in particular, how do we heal ourselves, what materials do we use, and what structures would be required to do so? With the onset of the COVID-19 virus and the “stay-at-home” orders, I further reexamined my home environment, seeing it as a place of rehabilitation and transformation of both the body and of my artistic practice. I again had to pivot in my intention, I no longer had access to a fully equipped wood shop, and expertise." David Ruhlman website Categories Student Profile Thesis
