Jason Coyle has a background in cinema studies and production. He has given talks and screened films at festivals and venues including the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, Walker Art Center, the Politics & Poetics Documentary Symposium, Aurora Picture show, MSPIFF, and the Phillips Museum of Art. He was a Flaherty Film Seminar Fellow and was part of the inaugural class of Jerome Hill Artist Fellows, as a collective with filmmaker Laska Jimsen. His work has also been supported through the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and the Jerome Foundation Minnesota Film & Video Grant. His essay Crime Scenes in Suburbia appears in Senses of Cinema and in the Egyptian film journal Kurrasat Al Cimatheque. He is currently completing Unless the Names, an observational documentary of the morphology collection of the world’s only full service animal forensics laboratory.
