New book by Alec Soth features photographs of MCAD undergraduate program

Despite what the title may suggest Advice for Young Artists by Alec Soth is a collection of photos from twenty-five undergraduate programs Soth attended between 2022 and 2024. Though the title may suggest that Soth is giving advice to young artists, it is a slight irony, as there is large implication that young artists are who have actually helped him. The book includes photographs taken at MCAD, including portraits of students, everyday objects, and other captured moments.

Throughout the book, he explores themes of age and its impact on creativity and art. MCAD student, Katherine Bocklemann ’24, drew the portrait featured on the cover. MCAD alumni, London King ’22, is left a special note from Soth, "not only were you a big part of this project, you continue to be an inspiration".
