Drawing and Painting: Cool Characters for ages 6-9 (in person)

Creating and drawing characters can be a fun way to explore different artmaking techniques.

Create character drawings and paintings inspired by French artist Georges Braque from the Cubist movement, and Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, who blended Mexican folk art, surrealism, and magical realism in her paintings. Build drawing skills and confidence working with oil pastels and colored pencils. Projects include a Cubist portrait in oil pastel with watercolor resist painting touches, and a self-portrait or character portrait framed by natural and magical touches. Students develop their characters, along with their backstories, through drawings, paintings, and mixed-media exploration. / Materials fee of $5 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 6–9. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Youth Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration.
