This class provides a fun and exciting path to understanding the basic concepts, techniques, and materials used in contemporary acrylic painting. Open to ages 12-15. Course descriptionStudents are introduced to the formal elements of painting, such as composition, measuring, and color theory. In addition to studio work, students learn about various painting styles and histories through short lectures and a visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Students are introduced to terms commonly used to discuss art and experience a group critique. / All sections are the same curriculum; choose the section that best fits your schedule. / Please note that the previous title of this course was Introduction to Painting. / Material fee of $5 included in course tuition.Open to students ages 12–15.
