Tell A Short Story: Collage and Mixed Media (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Tell A Short Story: Collage and Mixed Media (in person)

Discover how to visually create and tell a very short story. Write and ideate a short story based on prompts or personal experiences to create a mixed media collage in conversation with the story.

Course description

In this project-based class, work on a collage story over the duration of the course. Students are encouraged to use unconventional materials such as yarn, stones, leaves, fabric and other embellishments that give a story a visual personality. Through prompts and in-class projects learn how different materials bring a “mood” to storytelling.

Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions, share their work and give feedback to peers. On the last class sessions, students may choose to perform or share in collaboration with other classmates or illustrate the story through stand alone collages.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
